The plan for the next few weeks is to improve documentation, add samples and docs for API calls and plugins development. If you'll encounter any errors or problems with the new version, don't hesitate to let us know.
Migration from version 3 is made using the plugin:
Hi - thats great news, and I get to be the first to congratulate you! I will be installing it today. And its ready just in time for me to set up the integration with Boonex Dolphin community software on the full version :-) Question: I have done some work setting up the beta version. (not a lot really). Should I just do a clean install of the new version or can I use the database from the beta somehow to keep the changes I have made? Question 2) Please tell me where to find info about performance bonus setup. A little info about the new features that are included in the full release but weren't ready in the beta would perhaps be helpful to many? Thanks Dan V
Hi Dan, thanks for the congratulations. 1. You can update beta version to release easily. Just copy new files over old beta installation and run installer. Once the PAP is installed, installer behaves as an updater and updates your databse to the newest version. 2. Documentation is one of our the tasks for following days. These new features are not documented yet. I believe that our user interface is intuitive enough so you set up thinks correctly. Just activate features you need in Configuration -> Features. Best regards Michal Bebjak Quality Unit
I've installed and updated from PAP3 to PAP4 successfully. The migration script was fairly simple, although a couple issues did come up at first: 1. Some features from PAP3 such as commission groups / performance awards initially did not display. I had not activated those features yet. However, once activated via the merchant panel, everything was already set up, so they did indeed copy correctly even though the feature wasn't activated. I recommend putting a notice to turn on those features beforehand to avoid some confusion. 2. I have found a couple bugs / issues. First, is there any way to remove an affiliate from a campaign once approved? The closest thing I could find was 'commission groups' tab when you 'edit affiliate'. However, this simply displays all campaigns the affiliate is a member of - there is no way to edit this. It is also confusing, because there is the 'commission groups' feature. Yet this tab seemed to display campaigns instead of commission groups for the affiliate. Next is a bigger issue - in the affiliate panel (not merchant panel), the trends report displays the results for ALL affiliates. For example, say there were $20,000 for ALL sales in 2007. Then it displays in any given affiliate panel (say John Doe's affiliate panel) that his total for 2007 was $20,000 and he earned some $5,000 or something, when in fact he might have only contributed $1,000 in sales and earned $250 in commissions. This seems like a big bug, as it displays your total sales for the company individually to affiliates under trends reports, and as a privately held company that may not be desired. It is also very confusing to the affiliate - it took me a while to figure out what was going on. The total commissions in Trends Report should match total payout + total unpaid, not some number much higher.
Another bug I believe - possibly due to migration script? I'm not sure. In merchant panel, when trying to update affiliate signup under configuration, I click save (first tab) and receive this notification. "'Row affiliate_logout_url does not exist" I have not tried to signup an affiliate to see what happens, but the error message does confuse me as well. Under affiliate panel, you can set the URL to redirect to when an affiliate logs out - this field works correctly. On affiliate signup configuration, it initially was on redirect to this URL: papsignup.php but when you save, it says see errors. The error says enter valid URL. If you change this URL to anything else, or if you select 'display custom page', when you click save it says the error above: "'Row affiliate_logout_url does not exist"
Please see my support email. I cannot install PAP4. The first install page gets an error message. Its too long to post it here. Thanks Dan V
Russel: 2. Open the campaign and there is a tab Affiliates in Campaign which allows you to approve/decline affiliates in campaigns We will fix trends report and other bugs you mentioned. Dan: I'm working on your install problem and we will continue commusnication via email.
Thanks for the response. I did find the affiliates in group tab after looking around a bit more. You have to have commission groups turned on, create a commission group for the campaign, and then edit that group. As for the other bugs - do you have any estimate on when the file might be updated for download? Everything else (Migration, Settings, etc) went pretty smoothly, and I would like to finish setting it up and notify my affiliates to try out the new version. The main bug stopping me is the trends report. It seems like a fairly easy fix though, as it just seems to be pulling the wrong data out of the database and just needs the queries updated (probably).
Hi Russel, new version with fixed trend commissions is already available in members area for download. It was really a simple fix. We have forgot to remove one line of code we used for testing :-)
Thanks. I will download it and try out the updated version. Is the Report Problems section up and running? Since the release is considered stable (although a few more bugs may be found since it was just released), I can use that feature to report problems to QU if that is what the feature is for and it is working correctly. That seems like a better place to send issues to than in comments for the blog.
There is one thing I am confused about: Campaign Statistic View: - This week - This month Does this mean from Start of the Week/Month, or does this mean the Last 7 Days/Last 30 Days ? Indeed it should be Last 7 Days/Last 30 Days, this is on of the most important point of information in looking at the success of the campaign. regards Tom
I can not find any option for adding a condition for the Commission Value like it was possible in PAP3 Example: Commission 10% WHEN Turnover of Affiliate is >= 2000 THAN Commission 15% WHEN Turnover of Affiliate is >= 8000 THAN Commission 20% This is an important thing for giving the affiliate a feeling of why he should increase his sale. Also its possible to advertise with the 20% commission instead of the 10%. regards Tom
To Tom: I had the same trouble. You need to go to the features list (somewhere in the merchant panel) and turn on the feature titled performance rewards. I'm not sure if you need the commission groups plugin installed or not, but I think you set up commission groups for the various performance levels so that plugin may be needed.
To QU: It seems a new bug must have entered 4.1.1.2. I tried installing 4.1.1.2, but now I am unable to log in after doing a clean install. When attempting to log in, a red box pops open on the right side of the page that simply says 'empty argument'. I'm not sure what this applies to, but I know I'm typing in both the username and password correctly. Furthermore, if an invalid password is used, it does not say 'empty argument'. Instead, it says 'wrong username/password'. So it only says empty argument when the correct username and password is used. I am unable to log in to the merchant panel. I thought perhaps I introduced a problem by installing and dropping all the qu_ tables from the pap3 database and reinstalling, but I created a new database altogether and installed in a new folder on my domain for a completely fresh install, and the same error occurs.
While I am mentioning issues, I did encounter another when I tried to upgrade to 4.1.1.2 the first time. I was under the assumption that we could simply delete the old files (for example, all files in the pap4 folder) and upload the new files to the same folder. Then, it should act as an updater rather than an installer when you visit the install directory. This did not happen for me. Instead, after I deleted all files and reuploaded the new files from the pap_4.1.1.2.zip (leaving the database untouched from the previous pap4 install), when I went to the install directory it appeared as a fresh install. However, once I got to the page where you enter database information, it said 'tables already created. drop tables if you want to reinstall' or something similar. Is this supposed to happen? If this is not how we upgrade, what is the easiest way? Based on QU previous posts, I thought we simply reupload the files and leave the database untouched. Are there certain files that we must leave and not reupload? Are there files created during the initial setup that we must leave? I had simply deleted everything from the pap4 folder and reuploaded it all, but if some files must be left in order for the new version to work, which files are those?
Russell, when you upgrade, you need to leave the 'accounts' folder in place. This has your database connection information in it. You can delete all other files and you'll be able to do an upgrade after uploading the new files.
Russel: - Report problems screen in Post Affiliate Pro is the best way to report bugs to us. It is working OK. Only condition is that you have your email account in PAP set properly. - There was a bug in version 4.1.1.2 and it was quickly replaced with 4.1.1.3. Please update to 4.1.1.3. - I have added UPDATE.txt file to the package which will explain how the update should be done. It will be available in next version. Tom: - This week means from the start of the week till now. Same applies for this month. - Performance commissions are available in Professional edition after you activate them in Configuration -> Features. Michal Bebjak Quality Unit
I just wanted to stop by and say congratulations to you guys for releasing v4. I know software development always takes 2x longer than expected :) and can appreciate in this case the major changes you made to open up the platform further, move to a next gen. platform, and add new features that merchants are crying for - e.g. subid tracking which super affiliates demand. Keep up the good work.
Hi, I bought the program the 11th of December, but never got the product or password to enter the members area! Anyone the same problem?!?! I need to use it! Best, Caroline
Hi Caroline, please contact our support at http://support.qualityunit.com/server/submit_form.php. We are sending email with access information to members area immediatelly after sale. Maybe your email was filtered by spam filter. However if you contact our support we will solve this issue quickly. Michal Bebjak Quality Unit
Hi Peter, Subid tracking is possible in current version of PAP4 already. You can use channels. Each affiliate can define channels and also see statistic of those channels. Next option is to fill also data1, data2 fields in click integration and e.g. in raw clicks is possible to filter transactions by those fields - but this is not so much comfortable as channels. Viktor
Hi Michal, The mails to support@ keep coming back to me, hopefully you did receive the ticket I've sent a couple of hours ago. Please let me know. Best, Caroline
Dear Michal, I haven't received anything yet. I wonder what is going wrong... Could you try to send it to o0cb0o (at) hotmail (dot) com? Thanks! Caroline

Hi, I am receiving the following information when i am login in at admin : "Database CONNECT Error (line 11)" ... Can anyone please help? Regards
Adam: This is not right place for reporting problems ! Please use next time our bug database: http://bugs.qualityunit.com Also you can ask in our http://forum.qualityunit.com Problem you reported means, that PAP4 was not able to connect to your Mysql database. Please review, if your Mysql service is running and also check if database connection information are correct (file accounts\default1\settings.php ). Maybe something was changed in your server environment - maybe you should ask your server administrator.
